Property Description
Beautiful rolling hills topography with large century old live oak trees scattered through out the 100 acres. Ranch is located just 25 to 30 minutes from Georgetown. Range Management The Ranch grazing management is controlled with 15 primary pastures for rotaton. These pastures are differed each year for rest and possible prescribed burns. The other twelve pastures are rotated through approximately every week. This allows 84 days of rest before the herd is back in each pasture. The Texas Parks and Wildlife did a study that indicated that every 90 days in the Hill Country there is a significant rain (at least 2 ½ inches) Each of the pastures has a 1 inch poly line that provides water to a ¾ freeze protected hose bib. The main line is 2 inches and runs 2 ½ miles through the Ranch. All lines are buried two feet below ground which is below the freeze line. The water distribution system has a 30,000 gallon storage tank that allows two weeks of water to be stored for use in case of an extended power outage. All 15 pastures can be gravity flowed during an electrical outage if one occurred. White-Tail Deer Management The Ranch has been managed using Texas Parks and Wildlife Managed Land Permits Program (MLP) for 25 years. Ranch goals are to have 30 Bucks, 30 Does and a 100% Fawn Crop. The heard culling and animal unit records was recorded by Bill Armstrong, whitetail deer expert for TP&WKerr Wildlife Management Area. We have culled for over 20 years behind a high fence. The guidelines have been any buck less below 5 points is a cull buck regardless of age. Any more mature bucks 7 points or less are also culled bucks. The remaining trophy Bucks are harvested at 5-6 years old.
